President's Message

Welcome to the website of Alpha Mu Omega Chapter (AMO) of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® (AKA).  For more than a century, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority has been in the forefront with a clear focus of providing “service to all mankind” and AMO has done its part to hold true to this same precept.

Chartered in 1929, AMO has been committed to serving the Indianapolis community for over 88 years.  AMO is home to the designer of our sorority crest, Ms. Phyllis Wheatley Waters, and four former international officers of our sorority:  Mrs. Maenelle Newsome, Mrs. Annetta M. Lawson, Ms. Yvonne Perkins, and Mrs. Nadine C. Bonds.

Our current international program theme is Exemplifying Excellence Through Sustainable ServiceSM.  Our programs include five target areas: HBCU for Life: A Call to Action, Women's Healthcare and Wellness, Building Your Economic Legacy, The Arts, and Global Impact.  We've launched our international signature program, #CAPSM.  The College Application Process (#CAP) is a program designed to benefit high school students by assisting in their efforts to enter college in providing a hands-on approach that includes all the steps from researching various colleges to actually completing the application process.  Our local signature events, the Debutante Cotillion and the Rosebud Program, are now joined by our Rose Petals Program which benefits girls in grades six through eight.  Collectively, these programs allow AMO to showcase our commitment to sisterhood, scholarship, and service.

The strength of our chapter lies in the diversity of her 470+ members.  Our chapter members range in age from 22-99 years of age and represent women in the fields of education, medicine, social services, and a variety of other professional careers throughout the Indianapolis community.  We invite our sisters who are looking for a chapter home to look no further, AMO is here for you!!  Please visit often to stay aware of our programs and community events.

Yours in service,

Dr. Nichole Wilson
